Ottawa companies share stage in Aussie aviation gig
Two Ottawa-area aviation companies are engaged by Airservices Australia to upgrade three aging air traffic control towers down under. Providing technology that will give controllers a better “view” of airport airspace using both flight data and voice communications, Canada’s air authority Nav Canada will provide the project with its integrated tower automation suite Sensis, while Gatineau-based SolaCom Technologies will deploy the digital voice communications subsystem. The system will be installed at airports in Adelaide, Melbourne, Rockhampton, as well as at the Melbourne Air Traffic Centre and Learning Academy.
